Inform your patients – Animation video on GDPR for medical data
Medical data provide valuable information for scientific research, advancing our understanding of pathology and the discovery of new and advanced medical treatments. Reusing and sharing this data is therefore crucial, however, patient privacy should be protected at all times.
In 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) became directly applicable across the EU, assuring data privacy, including medical data. In order to help comply with the transparency principle of GDPR, it is crucial to inform patients about the possible reuse and sharing of medical data for scientific purposes.
Therefore, the COST Action ‘Glioma MR Imaging 2.0’ (glimr.eu), funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union, has developed an animation video. This video can be used in waiting rooms, on websites and on social media to inform your patients. This valuable tool is available in 17 languages*, and free for use. More information about the video, its use and links to the different versions, can be found on https://glimr.eu/gdpr-video/.
We hope this video will be considered for use within your institution.
Sincerely yours
