The DCCC Brain Tumor Center seeks to cure more patients from brain tumors.

With the focus on developing new treatment algorithms, The DCCC Brain Tumor Center have started 3 initiatives that tie the country together:

  • Whole genome analysis of all new patients with glioblastoma
  • Nationwide clinical trials with targeted treatment for newly diagnosed Glioblastoma patients as well as patients with recurrence
  • Establishing a detailed research database, in which all data will be included, and subject to advanced biostatic analysis with regard to generating new ideas.

The center is part of the Danish Comprehensive Cancer Center (www.dccc.dk), and the infrastructure and part of the research funding was initially made possible by a 5-year donation from The Danish Cancer Society (2021-2025).

Ulrik Lassen is directors of the Center, supported the Board of Directors and a secretariat located at Rigshospitalet. In addition, all principal investigators of the 20 research groups form part of the center’s steering group together with the chair of The Brain Tumor Association, the Danish Patients advocacy group for brain tumors.

The center is supported by an international scientific advisory board consisting of:

Professor and Director, Webster K. Cavenee, Head of Strategic Research of Brain Tumors, Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, University of California, San Diego, USA.

Professor and Director, Dr. Manfred Westphal, Department of Neurosurgery, University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany.
